Eleven New Databases Available At The Library
 A contract signed recently by the Connecticut Digital Library provides all Connecticut citizens with desktop access to 11 new online databases at the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown.
âThe databases serve a variety of needs including reader advisory, student research and homework help, business research, and health information,â said Janet Woycik, Booth Library director. The Connecticut Digital Library provides immediate, free access to timely and reliable full-text information from each userâs desktop â at home, at the library, or at school.
The databases from the Gale Group are:
Business & Company Resource Center âeasy, single-source access for business research;
Health & Wellness Resource Center â a one-stop resource for reliable health and medical information;
General Reference Center â a vast array of key business and general interest journals;
Info Trac OneFile âprovides instant access to periodical and news content;
Info Trac Kids/Junior/Student â comprehensive, single-search reference database made just for students;
Expanded Academic ASAP â a premier database for research in all academic disciplines;
Informal â a database of the most popular Spanish-language and bilingual periodicals;
Info Trac Professional Collection â a custom selection of full-text journals for educators;
 What Do I Read Next? â a powerful readerâs advisory tool.
âThis is a digital library that will support not only the educational and economic interests of Connecticut citizens, but their cultural and personal interests, as well,â said State Librarian Kendall Wiggin.
To access these databases from home, Newtown residents need a C.H. Booth library card.
The Connecticut Digital Library is a component of the Connecticut Education Network which, over time, will provide high-speed telecommunications access to all Connecticut schools, colleges, and public libraries. The Digital Library is being administered by the Connecticut State Library in conjunction with the Department of Higher Education, under the auspices of the Commission for Educational Technology.
