Susan “Sue” Boucher Medve, of Bridgeport, passed away on April 9, 2024, in Portland, Maine, at the age of 84.

She was born on December 13, 1939.

Sue was the beloved wife of Richard Bertram Medve for 63 years.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Bertram Medve, of Portland, Me.; her brother Thomas Boucher, sister Madeline Hackett, and her four children: Elizabeth (Scott) Ann Medve Cressey, Christopher (Dawn) Medve, Stephen (Arlene) Medve, and Matthew (Tanya) Medve. Sue was also a loving grandmother to Eric (Emma) Cressey, Austin Cressey, Anna Cressey, Sarah Medve, Nathan Medve, Jack Medve, and Samuel Medve.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Madeline and Thomas Boucher; her sister Doty Boucher Cuminotto; in-laws Bertram and Rita Medve, and Milton “Bud” Hackett.

A proud graduate of Laurelton Hall High School, class of 1957. She met her husband Rick when he was a lifeguard at Fairfield Beach and not long after, they eloped, started their family, and lived in Newtown together for 38 years.

She had a fulfilling career at the Gordon Fraser Gallery of Newtown. She was known for her dedication to her work and her unwavering support for her children, always prioritizing their athletic contests. She was, by far, the loudest voice in the crowd cheering for the team and her children.

In her free time, Sue enjoyed spending quality moments with her family and friends, celebrating various occasions. She cherished playing tennis with her husband Rick and their tennis circle, as well as engaging in board and card games, and sewing beautiful quilts and crafts for the whole family.

Sue’s sense of humor, laugh, optimism, and love for hosting large family gatherings during the holidays will be dearly missed.

After leaving Newtown, Sue and Rick loved their 20 years as snowbirds in New Hampshire and Florida, where Sue made friends easily, and planned many community events. Life in Florida was free and easy and enjoyable, and her favorite places to visit were Key West and Miami. Sue and Rick loved to travel and went cross country numerous times and also ventured into Europe.

A Mass to honor and remember Sue’s life will be held at her beloved St Rose Church in Newtown on Saturday, May 18, at noon.
