*Tickets are on sale for CHULRUA â the internationally acclaimed trio with button accordion icon Paddy OâBrien, fiddler Patrick Ourceau and guitarist Pat Egan â who will be making their Connecticut debut with a concert on Wednesday, May 5, at Newtown Meeting House.
Tickets are $15 for adults, and $5 for students and children. This is another concert being sponsored by The Shamrock Traditional Irish Music Society, which tend to sell out quickly. If you have any interest in this show I strongly suggest calling as soon as possible for tickets; call 203-256-8453.
The meetinghouse is at 31 Main Street (Route 25) in Newtown, opposite the flagpole.
*Legendary singer-songwriter BOB DYLAN will return to Connecticut on Saturday, June 5, when he headlines at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets, priced at $35 and $50, will be going on sale Friday, April 30, at 10 am.
Also returning to Connecticut this summer is SIMON & GARFUNKEL, who performed a sold out concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in September. The duo will be returning to the Uncasville venue on Friday, July 11. Tickets are priced at $95, $285 and $275 and are going on sale Saturday, April 24, at 10 am.
Wristbands will be distributed at 7 am on the respective days each of these shows go on sale. If you canât get to Uncasville on Saturday or Friday, tickets can be purchased over the phone at 800-477-6849, online at tickets.com online, or by visiting any tickets.com vendor (usually a Strawberries Music store).
*My favorite incarnation of VAN HALEN will be at Hartford Civic Center this summer. Eddie, Alex, Michael and Sammy will be in Hartford on Monday, June 28, and tickets are going on sale this weekend.
Tickets have been set at $46.75, $66.75 and $96.75, and will be going on sale Saturday, April 24, at 10 am. Tickets can be purchased through any TicketMaster outlet (which includes Fileneâs), but will not be on sale this weekend at the civic center. Remaining tickets will be available beginning Monday at the civic center.
*Tickets for two shows at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford will be going on sale this weekend as well.
On Saturday at noon tickets for JASON MRAZâs May 22 show will be going on sale. All seats are $28.
Then on Monday tickets will be available at 10 am for HALL & OATES and MICHAEL McDONALD, with Average White Band opening. This show will be on Tuesday, July 13. Tickets for this show are $35, $45 and $55.

*HAT CITY BLUES BAND will be at The Black Duck in Westport on April 23. The guys will also be at The Georgetown Saloon on April 30, and Black-Eyed Sallyâs BBQ & Blues Café in Hartford on May 13. The band will be doing its second annual benefit for Newtown Youth Services on May 22. Details to follow on that show.
