Rear-End Collision
Motorist Patrick Conlan, 39, of 26 Old Green Road, who was driving a 1993 Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle eastward near 51 Church Hill Road about 4:45 pm April 12, stopped for heavy traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Leslie Mufalli, 32, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1996 Nissan Maxima sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Mufalli a written warning for following too closely.
Volkswagen Vs Honda
Motorist Abdou Alfari, 41, of Greensboro, N.C., who was driving a 1999 Honda Accord at the intersection of Routes 25 and 302 about 6:30 pm April 12, stopped for a red traffic signal and was struck from behind by motorist Christina Bennett, 20, of 4 Monitor Hill Road, who was driving a 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police issued Bennett a written warning for following too closely.
Intersection Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 34 and Wasserman Way about 10:30 pm April 16.
Police said the collision involved motorist Timothy Duffy, 18, of 3 Tanglewood Lane, who was driving a 1998 Pontiac station wagon, and motorist Nicole Kaza, 16, of 4 Clearview Drive, who was driving a 1987 Plymouth Reliant.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Duffy for making a restricted turn.
Dodge Vs Dog
Motorist Gail Bicking, 61, of 6 Taunton Lake Drive was driving a 2002 Dodge Intrepid on Main Street, near Martin Street, about 5:15 pm April 16, when a dog ran into the road, resulting in a collision, police report.
Bicking was not injured, police said. The dogâs owner took the pet to a veterinarian for treatment of a leg injury, police said.
High Bridge Road
Motorist Andrew Moon, 25, of Groton, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee westward on High Bridge Road, stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Botsford Hill Road about 4 pm April 15, police said. Motorist Richard LaFreniere, 35, of Middlebury, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet van, struck the Jeep from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued LaFreniere a written warning for following too closely.
Key Rock Mishap
Motorist Michael Aguis, 17, of 140 Hattertown Road, who was driving a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass southward on Key Rock Road about 4:12 pm April 14, hit a puddle in the road, police said. The auto went out of control, skidded off the right road shoulder, and got stuck in the mud. Agius was not injured. Police issued Aguis a written warning for making a restricted turn.
SUV Vs Dump Truck
Police report an accident involving a sport-utility vehicle and a town dump truck at the intersection of Borough Lane and South Main Street about 1:25 pm April 15.
Motorist Catherine Prestera, 60, of 35 Poverty Hollow Road, who was driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder eastward on Borough Lane, stopped at the stop sign at that roadâs intersection with South Main Street, police said.
At that time, a town-owned 1998 Ford dump truck driven by Ray Disbrow, 46, of 134 South Main Street was traveling southward on South Main Street, police said.
The Nissan then began to turn right onto South Main Street and the two vehicles collided, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Prestera a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.
Five To Hospital
State police report that motorist Donald Boclair, 53, of Westbrook, Maine, was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan minivan westward in the right lane of three lanes on Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, about 10 pm April 16, when the minivan went off the right road shoulder, crossed back over the westbound lanes, and then struck a concrete barrier railing along the left road shoulder.
Firefighters responded to the scene to contain a minor fuel spill, state police said.
Newtown and Danbury ambulance staffers transported Donald Boclair and also passengers Nancy Boclair, 66; Richard Boclair, 67; Cynthia Townsend, 41; and Jacob Townsend, 10, all to Danbury Hospital to be checked for complaints of pain, state police said.
State police said they issued Boclair a motor vehicle warning.
Key Rock Damage
Sometime between 6:45 and 8 am on April 19, someone who was driving a red vehicle damaged a curbside mailbox positioned at 43 Key Rock Road, police said. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841 or 270-8888.
Motorcycle Mishap
Motorcyclist Gerrit Veerman III, 26, of Fairfield was driving a 2004 Yamaha westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 1:24 pm April 18, when an unidentified noncontact vehicle that was traveling westward in front of Veerman stopped to make a left turn onto Old Bethel Road, police said.
Veerman lost control of the motorcycle and then put down the motorcycle on the pavement, police said. Veerman received arm and knee scrapes, police said.
Police issued Veerman a written warning for following too closely.
DUI Arrest
Police report that at about 1:20 am on April 21, they followed motorist Anthony Bruno, 52, of New Milford, who was traveling 55 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone northward on Main Street and then on Currituck Road, where they stopped him to investigate.
Charges against Bruno include driving under the influence, traveling too fast, and driving without a license, police said. After processing the case, police released Bruno on $40 bail for a May 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
