Newtown Rotary Contributes To C.H. Booth Library
Newtown Rotary held its regular Monday evening meeting in the Cyrenius Booth Library recently and presented Library Director Janet Woycik with a contribution for the library.
Rotary is a supporter of the library. In 1996, the club worked closely with Mrs Woycik to set up a separate business section of the library. Rotarians made and painted bookshelves and helped to move all the books on business into a new section called the business and career center.
A computer was donated and Rotary provided a computer program for creating a personal resume. This was just before many companies went through a downsizing that resulted in many people being out of work. The resume program was almost in constant use in a very short time.
Since Rotary is an organization of business men and women, it is interested in working closely with the library in developing anything that will help people in their business or career.
Town Historian Daniel Cruson also presented an interesting program on the townâs plans for its tercentennial for the year 2005. Success of this for the year 2005 will depend on the cooperation of all the citizens of Newtown, Mr Cruson said, since the seed money was cut from the proposed town budget.
