Asthma Screening At St Vincent’s

BRIDGEPORT — A walk-in asthma screening will be held on Saturday, May 1, from 9 am to 1 pm, at St Vincent’s Medical Center, Pulmonary Lab, Level 1, 2800 Main Street.

The screening, recognizing May as Allergy and Asthma Awareness Month, is sponsored by St Vincent’s Medical Center.

The event, which is free and open to the general public, both adults and children, will help individuals become aware that they may be suffering from undetected asthma.

Kevin McGrath, MD, an allergist who initiated the walk-in asthma screenings at St Vincent’s, said, “Forty percent of adult asthmatics in the United States are undetected. Through this screening, we hope to identify individuals who may have asthma, and help them seek further evaluation.”

Individuals suffering from symptoms such as persistent cough, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, nasal allergies, or who possess a family history of asthma, are recommended to attend. No appointment is necessary. For more information call Edna Lomax at St Vincent’s at 203-576-5091.
