Mile Hill DUI

Police said they saw motorist Miguel A. Viana, 28, of Danbury crossing the road’s center lines while eastbound on Mile Hill Road about 4:30 pm April 21. Police said they stopped Viana and performed field sobriety tests, which he failed.

Police charged Viana with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right. After processing, police released Viana on a promise to appear May 8 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Breach

Police said they charged Peter Lagnese, 19, of 9 Pebble Road with breach of peace following an incident about 1:30 am April 21 in the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts on Queen Street. Lagnese is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court May 3 to answer the charge.

South Main Collision

Motorist Donna J. Bertola, 35, of 28 Surrey Trail, was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am northbound on South Main Street about 10:15 am April 18 and was slowing and turning right into Ricky’s Shopping Center, when the Pontiac was struck from behind by northbound motorist Tanveer Khursheed, 21, of Monroe, who was driving a 1993 Buick Century station wagon, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Khursheed an infraction ticket on a charge of following too closely.

I-84 Crash

State police said driver James Porch, Jr, 28, of Mifflin, Penn., who was driving a 1998 International truck eastbound on Interstate 84 east of Exit 9 about 7:20 pm April 17, attempted to move from the highway’s left lane to its right lane and struck motorist Dolores Rudinski, 59, of Southbury, who was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry. Both motorists were wearing seatbelts. There were no injuries. State police said Porch was improperly passing the Toyota when the collision occurred.

Car Vs Truck

State police said motorist Yocheved Brecher, 25, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet station wagon carrying four passengers, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 near Exit 10 about 11 pm April 16, when the Chevrolet drifted from the highway’s right lane into the left lane, striking motorist Donald Jefferson, 54, of Aberdeen, Ohio, who was driving a 2000 Peterbilt truck.

There were no injuries. State police said Brecher failed to stay in the established lane.

 

Drug Charges

Police report that while operating a radar unit on Mt Pleasant Road near Diamond Drive about 6 pm April 24, they spotted a white van traveling 60 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone.

Police said they stopped the van and investigated, charging its driver, Adam Chernowsky, 23, of Shelton, with speeding and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension.

A search of the vehicle turned up some controlled substances, police said. Police additionally charged Chernowsky with possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police released Chernowsky on a $250 bond for a May 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

DUI Charge

Police report they saw motorist James C. Connelly, 40, of Southbury swerving on Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook and driving about 10 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone about 3:30 am April 26.

Police said they stopped Connelly and gave him field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police charged Connelly with driving under the influence and driving too slowly.

After processing, police released Connelly for a May 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
