Executive Greed At Stop & Shop
To the Editor:
In 2017 Stop & Shop made over two billion dollars in profits plus a $225 million dollar tax cut windfall as result of President Trump’s corporate tax cut. This tax cut was sold on the “Trickle Down Theory,” which economists state has never worked.
Stop & Shop has taken this to a new level by incorporating the “Trickle Up Theory.” S&S executives have no conscience by reducing their employees compensation who can least afford it of their hours, healthcare benefits, and hourly pay.
So this is very simple — if these employees don’t receive at least a two percent cost of raise with no cuts, I will never again walk through the doors at Stop & Shop.
I don’t know how S&S executives sleep at night knowing they are making it impossible for their employees to make a living wage.
I have never seen a union receive so much public support.
I have great respect for these people and their cause, and they have my full support. Hang in there.
