Attention young musicians, poets, singers, magicians, and more: the monthly Saturday Night Open Mic returns Saturday, April 25, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, in the Great Room at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.

The featured musicians this month will be good friends Cameron Mitchell and Robby LaPorta, both members of the local band The Talking Skies. While the other two members of the band are unable to participate in the open mic event, Cameron and Robby plan to perform a short set of songs.

The open mic is for high school and middle school youth. Performers grades 5-6 are also welcome.

Microphones, keyboard, guitar amp and more will be available. A welcoming atmosphere and an enthusiastic all-ages audience makes for a great outing each month.

Suggested donation is $1. Adult family members are invited to bring a simple drink or snack to share, such as baked goods, chips, pretzels, etc. Coffee and tea will be available. Sign up starts at 7:15 pm.

Doors will be open by 7 pm if any performers wish to come early and wait to sign up.

There is space for about twenty performers so the time limit per spot is about five minutes. Sign-up is first come, first serve. Youth under grade six must have a parent or guardian present.
