NHS Career Center Lists Scholarships
Information and applications for the following scholarships is available at the Career Center at Newtown High School:
Society of Women Engineers National Scholarship â The organization offers renewable scholarships to female high school seniors who plan to study engineering or computer science at an accredited college. The range is from $1,000 to $10,000. Applications are available at www.swe.org/scholarships and in the Career Center, due by May 15.
Education Connection Scholarship â A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one high school senior from a member high school in the western Connecticut district. The student must plan to pursue a career that relates to Education Connectionâs mission and programs and show a long-term commitment to community service. Applications with details are available at www.educationconnection.org.
Newtown Youth Services/ Youth Advisory Board â The Youth Advisory Board is a group of students who act as a link between the youth community of Newtown and Newtown Youth Services. This organization is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who has given something back to the community through volunteer work and community service. The Youth Advisory Board will determine the amount. The application is due to Youth Services by 5 pm on May 2.
The Kline Family Community Service Scholarship â The scholarship will be offered to a graduating senior who will be attending the University of Connecticut with a strong record of community service. At least one $250 scholarship is awarded annually. Additional information is available at www.klinefamilyscholarship.org. Applications must be submitted by May 15.
