George F.     Mayo
George F. Mayo, 94, of Newtown, died April 14, in Ashlar of Newtown.
Mr Mayo was born in Fairfield, Maine, the son of the late Joseph and Orpha Ouellette Mayo, and was an area resident for many years.
George was a retired railroad postal clerk, with the US Post Office, a proud member of American Postal Workers Union, and a Navy veteran of WWII. His wife, Helene Lipovsky, predeceased him.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Burnette, and her husband Phillip, of Martinsville, Va.; two sons, Thomas Mayo, and his wife Susan, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and George Mayo, and his wife Marge, of Ansonia; one brother, Frank Mayo, and his wife, Kathleen, of Shelton; four grandchildren, Joseph and Sarah Burnette, of Martinsville, Va., and Kim Mayo Korn and her husband Matt, of Raleigh, N.C., and Charlie Mayo, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services took place on April 18, in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, followed by interment in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
