Eastbound motorist Melanie OâConnell, 44, of 64 Butterfield Road, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban sport-utility vehicle, was stopped and waiting to make a left turn into a driveway at 45 Church Hill Road at about 11:57 am April 15, when an eastbound 1997 Dodge Avenger driven by Steven Drolet, 19, of 29 Riverside Road drove into the rear end of the Chevrolet, police report.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps staffers evaluated Drolet but found no injuries, police said. The Dodge received heavy front-end damage in the impact.
Newtown Hook and Ladder firefighters went to the accident to handle a minor automotive fluid spill. Police issued Drolet an infraction ticket for following too closely.
Wasserman Way
While stopped at a red traffic signal on eastbound Wasserman Way about 5 pm April 17, motorist Steven Carota, 20, of Haskell, N.J., who was driving a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup truck, backed up and struck the front end of a 1999 Toyota Solara driven by Kenneth Miller, 21, of Woodbury, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Carota a written warning for unsafe backing.
