All Accusations And No Facts

To the Editor:

Concerning the Mrs Post issue:

I am a senior at Newtown High School. I’ve known Mrs Post since my sophomore year and find it hard to believe that the felonies that she was arrested for are true. Mrs Post had a good job at the school. She cherished the kids and encouraged us in everything that we do. There was no reason for her to jeopardize all of that for her own personal gain. I would like it if all of the facts were researched and released to the public.

There is definitely something missing here. All we have are accusations and no facts. I was at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, April 12. At that meeting, no one could give us any answers. Wasn’t it Dr Pitkoff who made the accusations in the first place? And by reading the statement posted on your website, it says nothing of her actually receiving any money. From what is written, it sounds like she was asking for reimbursement and was denied and then convicted. Why would she be asking for reimbursement in the first place? This is all most likely a result of poor bookkeeping.

Finally, the facts need to be cleared up for the sake of the town. Think about what our town is known for: our school system. Even more so is our music program. I’ve heard music teachers from other towns praise our music program. With the dismissal of Mrs Post, it has hurt us greatly. Plus, with all of the negative press and rumors, this could possibly deter people from moving here. Who would honestly want to enrollee their kids into an unstable school system?

I thank you for your time.
