Newtown High School’s boys’ lacrosse team lost a 7-6 nail-biter to Bunnell-Stratford, on the road, on April 19. Newtown High Coach Scott Bulkley said his team almost tied it up at the end but could not get into a rhythm against a well-coached opponent.

Jake Bulkley had two goals and an assist, Andrew Swierbut recorded a goal and an assist, and Matt Jacobs, Colin Breslin, and Eli Williams all scored. Markus Paltauf made a dozen saves.

Newtown was coming off a 10-6 win over Masuk of Monroe a week earlier and, following the layoff, is in the midst of six scheduled contests in 11 days to finish game action in April. Following Thursday’s visit to Weston at 7:30 pm, the Nighthawks will host Bethel Saturday, April 23, at 11 am.
