The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Newtown, with an incoming front expected to bring 60 mile per hour wind gusts and heavy downpours around 3 pm Wednesday.

Residents are told to expect damage to trees and power lines.

For your protection, during the storm, residents should consider moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building, or seeking some other safe place to shelter until the front passes.

The warning is in effect until 4 pm.
