Volunteers Sought For Independent Living Day

To the Editor:

Can you give a little time on April 29, the last day of National Volunteer Week? The Sixth Annual Independent Living Day is calling volunteers of all ages to help some of Newtown’s senior citizens with tasks such as yard cleanup, window washing, and other spring needs. In return for a breakfast or lunch and two hours of work in the spring sunshine (guaranteed), volunteers will meet some new people, get a little exercise, and go home feeling good!

Who can volunteer? High school students, middle school students, friends, adults, and families with younger kids. Community service credits are available for those who want them.

To volunteer for morning, afternoon, or both on Saturday, April 29, just call 270-4335 or 426-9637. Our seniors will thank you, and you’ll help make Newtown a little better for us all.
