Local Pianists Will Perform Four Hands Benefit Concert
GEORGETOWN â In celebration of its 125 years of service, Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown is presenting a year long series of special events. The next presentation will be a benefit concert featuring parishioner Allen Brings and his wife, Genevieve Chinn Brings, in âA Concert of Music for Piano, 4-hands.â
Steinway and Company has arranged for the loan of one of its concert grand pianos for the program, which will be on Sunday, April 30, at 4 pm, in Pryor Hubbard Hall in the parish center.
Dr Genevieve Chinn Brings has received many awards for her work. She has also been cited by the United Nations Association of the United States as an âOutstanding Connecticut Woman of the Year.â She is currently a professor of music at the CW Post campus of Long Island University.
Dr Allen Brings is a composer as well as a pianist. His published compositions have been recorded on many labels and include works for orchestra, band, chorus and voice, piano, organ, harpsichord, guitar and a wide variety of chamber ensembles. He is co-author of A New Approach to Keyboard Harmony.

The Brings are directors of the Weston Music Center and School of Performing Arts.
The program will feature works by Brahms, Schubert and Stravinsky. As an added bonus, the concert will include the performersâ comments on the program notes throughout their presentation. A reception will be held after the concert to honor the Brings.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for seniors and students. For tickets, call the rectory at 544-8345.
Upcoming events to conclude the year-long celebration of Sacred Heart will include a juried art show in June and a formal dinner dance at the Ethan Allen Inn in October.
