Get The Facts

To the Editor:

Chuck Stofko’s letter to the editor [Letter Hive, April 14, 2006] about MoveOn’s attack ad on Nancy Johnson accuses MoveOn of being “distorters of the truth.” As someone who hates political mud-slinging, I took Mr Stofko’s advice and viewed the ad for myself (moveon.org). In the ad, MoveOn accuses Ms Johnson of taking over a quarter-million dollars from energy companies, while voting to protect oil company profits. The text “back-up/substantiation” of the website provides all the facts behind the advertisement, including specific votes for and against specific bills (against enforcement of price gouging, and for breaks to oil refiners).

Mr Stofko claims he wants an “honest debate of the facts,” yet in four full paragraphs, he completely fails to challenge a single assertion in the MoveOn ad.

Therefore I join with Mr Stofko in encouraging the voters of Newtown to go to the MoveOn.org site and see the facts for themselves.

Sincerely,

Alex Isgut
