Free YMCA Water Safety Classes In Danbury

BROOKFIELD/DANBURY — The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut’s Greenknoll Branch and Boughton Street Branch is offering “YMCA Splash” — a free water safety class for children ages 2–10 years who have not taken swim instruction before.

This free weeklong program is funded by the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation. Classes will be held once a day from May 1 to May 5.

Children will be taught basic water safety and swim strokes. Parents must remain in the building while the child is in class. Children recently or not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper covered by a snug-filling plastic pant.

Registration begins April 17 at 9 am and must be done in person. Spaces are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

The Greenknoll Branch is offering a parent/child class for children ages 2–3 years, and classes for 3–6 years, 6–7 years, and 8–10 years.

The Greenknolll Branch is located at 2 Huckleberry Hill Road in Brookfield. For more information, call 775-4444. The Boughton Street Branch is offering classes for ages 3–5 years and 6–12 years. The Boughton Street Branch is located at 12 Boughton Street in Danbury. For more information, call 744-1000.
