CCS To Perform Spring Concert, April 28
DANBURY â The Connecticut Choral Society (CCS) will welcome spring on Friday, April 28, at 8 pm, with a concert at Saint Peter Church, 104 Main Street.
The chorus, which has received complimentary reviews for its presentation of music of high quality, will sing Bachâs Jesu Meine Freude (BWV 227), a five-part chorus with strings and continuo. CCS will also present Arvo Pärtâs Te Deum. The chorus will also be accompanied by the Connecticut Choral Society Orchestra.
Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance and $25 at the door, and are available for purchase at the CCS website, CTChoralSociety.org, by phone at 206-7186, or at More Good Books and Woodbury Drug Store in Woodbury, VillaRina in Southbury, Drug Center in Newtown, and Music Plus in Danbury.
Founded in 1980, CCS is under the direction of John Robert Liepold. As ambassadors of great choral music, members are committed to providing a music resource for Connecticut, encouraging the singing and performance of choral music of high artistic quality, and stimulating greater appreciation and enjoyment of choral music.
In recent seasons, CCS has performed Handelâs Messiah, Mozartâs Requiem, Bachâs Mass in B minor, Durufleâs Requiem, and Rutterâs Gloria, among others. CCS has appeared at Carnegie Hall, toured internationally, and performed on network television.
