Connecticut Choral Society's (CCS) spring concerts, on Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29, will offer a musical celebration dedicated to world peace. As a way to honor and thank members of the military for their service, tickets for retired or active members are just $10.

"The French Connection," the theme of this year's concerts, will honors global remembrances surrounding the centenary of the Great War, according to CCS Artistic Director and Conductor Eric Dale Knapp.

"The program remembers, honors, and celebrates the past, enables goodwill in the present, and educates both young and old alike about this historical legacy," Maestro Knapp explained.

Through the music of Rutter, Locklair, Durufle, and others, the concert celebrates the exchange of peace, a loving spirit, and the simple remembrance of a flower that holds far greater symbolism. The Fauré Requiem, a keystone piece in the concert, provides a fitting tribute to those who sacrifice all so that the world could know freedom.

The concert will feature the Connecticut Choral Society, acclaimed soloists Megan Knapp and Manuel Alvarez, and pianist Linda Sweetman-Waters, all under the direction of Maestro Knapp.

The concerts will be performed at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street, on Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3 pm.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for youth and senior citizens, and available online at ctchoralsociety.org. They can also be purchased in advance at Trinity Church; Woodbury Drug Store, 682 Main Street South (Route 6) in Woodbury; and Villarina Pasta, 20 Church Hill Road in Newtown and 22 Poverty Road in Southbury.

Tickets at the door will be $30 and $25, respectively. The veterans ticket price is valid at the door or in advance, and children ages 11 and under will be admitted free.
