Workshop On Long-Term Care

A workshop on how to fund long-term care will be held on April 30, from 6 to 8 pm in the board room of the Cyrenius H. Booth Library on Main Street.

Joan Bouchard, CLU, ChFC, will discuss options on funding long-term care and avoiding the use of assets to pay for it.

A serious illness or injury can mean financial jeopardy. Since very few private or group health insurance policies cover the cost of long-term care, people with income and assets often end up paying for expenses themselves.

Seventy-six percent of Americans don’t expect to need long-term care, but 43 percent aged 65 and older actually will need it.

The average annual cost of nursing home care is $50,000, and $125.2 billion is spent annually on long-term care. In ten years, it is projected that the annual nursing home cost will be $81,445.

There is no fee for the workshop and no obligation. Attendees will receive a free 20-page workbook containing information, exercises, and questions to help them evaluate the need for long-term care insurance.

For reservations, call 203-797-1203.
