Tougher Traffic Enforcement
Tougher Traffic Enforcement
Starting Monday, April 23, police are slated to start heightened traffic violation enforcement, according to Acting Police Chief Michael Kehoe.
The project will put additional patrol officers on local roads from 6 to 10 am and from 2 to 6 pm, during heavy traffic periods, he said.
Radar will be used to monitor motoristsâ speed in the area, he said. Police will be watching for cases of reckless driving and for motorists who drive through red traffic signals and stop signs, he said.
The enforcement project will run through the end of May, Acting Chief Kehoe said. During that period, police will select 10 to 15 days for heightened traffic enforcement, he said.
Town police also plan to work with state police on increased inspection of commercial trucks passing through the area, he said.
The additional town police patrols are made possible through a $6,000 federal law enforcement grant.
