Fairfield University Appoints Three Deans

FAIRFIELD — Three deans have been appointed at Fairfield University to the College of Arts & Sciences, the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, and the School of Nursing. In making the announcement, Rev Aloysius P. Kelley, SJ, university president, said, “It is a sign of Fairfield’s growing academic reputation that each of the three search committees had a very strong pool of applicants from which to select a dean. I am very pleased that each new dean brings strong research and publication credentials, a demonstrated ability to work with and support faculty and students, and a record of outreach to the community.”

Timothy Law Snyder has been named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University. Dr Snyder graduated from the University of Toledo with a double major in psychology and mathematics and a master of science degree in mathematics, summa cum laude. He earned a master of arts degree and a doctorate in applied and computational mathematics from Princeton University.

The new dean at for the School of Business at Fairfield University is Norman A. Solomon. Dr Solomon earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in industrial and labor relations; and a master’s degree and doctorate in industrial relations from the University of Wisconsin. He also holds a certificate in management and leadership in education from Harvard University.

Jeanne Marie Lemire Novotny is the new dean of the School of Nursing at Fairfield University. Dr Novotny received a diploma in nursing from St Vincent Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. She continued her education at Ohio State University, earning both bachelor and master of science degrees in nursing. She then earned her doctorate in education and administration from Kent State University.

Academic vice president Orin Grossman said he was delighted that the new deans viewed Fairfield University’s culture of collaboration and cooperation among its various schools as a strength that attracted them to Fairfield. “I know they look forward to working in an environment that enhances each school’s potential,” he said.
