Two Lights For Tomorrow: A Nationwide Call To Action
In partnership with the American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250), the America 250 | CT Commission will commemorate the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's ride and the signal that warned of the British advance. On Friday, April 18, Connecticut organizations, municipalities, and individuals are encouraged to display two lights in the windows of homes, statehouses, and local communities.
Paul Revere’s famous ride occurred during the overnight of April 18-19, 1775. Two Lights for Tomorrow uses the imagery of that midnight ride as a uniting call to action for citizens to celebrate and serve. By displaying two lights, participants will contribute to a visual representation of unity and shared purpose.
Participation is simple. Community centers, municipal administrative buildings, museums, cultural centers, private residences, and any other organization that wishes to participate can display two lights on the evening of Friday, April 18.
By April 8, local efforts had collected promises from representatives of C.H. Booth Library, Edmond Town Hall, Newtown Community Center, Newtown Historical Society, and Newtown Meeting House to participate in Two Lights For Tomorrow on April 18.
As of April 17, 80 organizations and individuals in Connecticut have indicated they plan to participate. Local efforts have collected promises from representatives of C.H. Booth Library, Edmond Town Hall, Newtown Community Center, Newtown Historical Society, and Newtown Meeting House to participate in Two Lights For Tomorrow. At least two Newtown homeowners have registered to participate.
