Newtown High School’s baseball team was shut out 3-0 by visiting Norwalk on April 10 and blanked 6-0 at Shepaug Valley on April 14, then posted a 15-5 win over Bunnell of Stratford on April 16.

Against Norwalk, starting pitcher Jamie Piccuillo allowed two runs on four hits in five and a third innings of work. Newtown was no-hit into the seventh inning before Lucian Place and Jack Carta reached with singles.

In the Shepaug game Kieran Garrity had two hits and Place also had a base hit. Carta pitched three hitless innings and Wes Keayes allowed six runs, only three earned, and struck out four in three frames. The Nighthawks committed a trio of errors.

Newtown got into the win column with a big offensive day versus Bunnell. Piccuillo, Garrity, Auden Paulos, and Chris Moseman each drove in two runs. Read more about this exciting result in the April 25 print edition of The Bee.
