The dispatchers working at the Newtown Emergency Communications Center (NECC) at Town Hall South, 3 Main Street, report the following fire calls and the responders:

Thursday, April 11: 5:58 pm, brush fire, near 11 Valley Field Road South, Sandy Hook responded.

Friday, April 12: 6:20 am, medical assist, Tower Road, Hawleyville responded; 8:09 public service, 12 Dickinson Drive, Sandy Hook responded; 11:08 am, medical assist, Hattertown Road, Dodgingtown responded; 10:09 pm, motor vehicle accident, intersection of South Main Street, Meadowbrook Road, and Botsford Hill Road, Botsford responded.

Saturday, April 13: No calls listed.

Sunday, April 14: 9:08 am, wires down, near intersection of Rock Ridge Road and Birch Hill Road, Dodgingtown and Hawleyville responded; 11:09 am, alarm, 27 Taunton Lane, Hawleyville responded.

Wednesday, April 17: 8:28 am, motor vehicle accident, Main Street flagpole intersection, Hook & Ladder responded; 8:29 pm, alarm, 600 Brookside Court, Hawleyville responded; 10:26 pm, medical assist, Watkins Drive, Sandy Hook responded.

Newtown Hook & Ladder Chief Chris Ward (partially hidden, fifth from left), watches while a pair of firefighters place a ladder against the side of an attached garage on the back end of a former Fairfield Hills residential building. Meanwhile, a second team had already placed their ladder, and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Firefighter Mikko Muro was heading toward one of the second floor windows. Chief Ward oversaw training for the two companies on Sunday, April 14, when the focus was on ladders. The company's ladder trucks were also used during the drill, which lasted for a few hours.
