Flags To Be Lowered For Barbara Bush

Bush, died Tuesday, a family spokesman said. She was 92.Associated Press content was used in the creation of this post.ÃÂ
Shortly thereafter, President Donald J. Trump issued a proclamation ordering American flags be lowered to half-staff in her memory.
"On this solemn day, we mourn the loss of Barbara Bush, an outstanding and memorable woman of character," President Trump's April 17 statementÃÂ began. "As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, military spouse, and former First Lady, Mrs Bush was an advocate of the American family. Mrs Bush lived a life that reminds us always to cherish our relationships with friends, family, and all acquaintances. In the spirit of the memory of Mrs Bush, may we always remember to be kind to one another and to put the care of others first."
Flags are to be atÃÂ half-staff "at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of internment," the statement continued.
The flag will also be flown at half-staff for the same period at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.
Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy on Wednesday morning followed suit, ordering through a proclamation that USÃÂ and state flags are to be lowered until Mrs Bush's funeral, which is now scheduled for Saturday, April 21.
Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the US flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time, the governor reminds state residents this morning.
Hook & Ladder firefighters were planning to have the Main Street flag lowered by 9 am Wednesday.
