Where The Bulbs Shine: Strategies For The Garden
Where The Bulbs Shine: Strategies For The Garden
The Garden Club of Newtown will host a program about spring flowering bulbs by Karen Bussolini of Kent this month. âWhere Bulbs Shine,â to be presented at C.H. Booth Library on Tuesday, April 22, will give gardeners strategies for using bulbs throughout the landscape. The program is free of admission charge and open to the public.
Ms Bussolini feels it is important to do more than just show photographs of flowers and talk about them and so her focus will be on how to use spring flowering bulbs within the context of a garden. She will also discuss various topics such as dealing with unattractive foliage after the bloom is past and using bulbs in a perennial garden and locating them so they donât get dug up by mistake.
Trained as a painter, Ms Bussolini worked as an architectural photographer before specializing in garden photography, writing and lecturing. Her photographs have appeared in Garden Design, House Beautiful, House and Gardens, Traditional Home, Better Homes and Gardens and many other magazines and books published around the world. She has also written articles for numerous magazines and books, and is especially known for her writing on gardening from her personal experience.
The sole photographer of five books â The Homeownerâs Complete Tree and Shrub Manual, Elegant Silvers: Striking Plants for Every Garden, The Unsung Season: Gardens and Gardeners in Winter, A Country Garden for Your Backyard and Backyard Design: Making the Most of the Space Around Your House â Ms Bussolini was also the co-writer for Elegant Silvers.
She has presented slide lectures across the nation, taught at many locations including the New York Botanical Garden, and appeared on radio and television.
The program will begin at 1 pm on Tuesday, and registration is not required. The library is at 25 Main Street, and the program will be in the lower meeting room. For more information call 270-1108.
