Soccer Players Meet The Pros
DANBURY â More than 100 enthusiastic youth soccer players from Newtown and the greater Danbury area participated in a clinic with members of the New York Red Bulls professional team at Sport & Wellness in Danbury, recently. Boys and girls ages 6-13 received training and coaching from the renowned Red Bulls Player Development System. The after school indoor soccer event was hosted by Sport & Wellness Danburyâs new TEAM F.A.S.T. youth soccer clinic program, as a season-ending tribute to a successful inaugural winter season. TEAM F.A.S.T., a high-energy acronym for fitness-agility-speed-training, is a unique blend of soccer-specific fitness training and player skill development.Â
Bob Salvador, Director of Coaching & Training for this innovative youth soccer clinic program, said TEAM F.A.S.T. is a new and different progressive training program that is complimentary to a playerâs more traditional soccer regimen.
Led by four highly-charged Red Bulls Academy coaches, 12 weeks of F.A.S.T. clinic training were put to the test as players performed a one-hour session of ball-control, footwork and agility drills and instruction. Jeff Parke, the Red Bullsâ star defender, posed for pictures and signed posters and player game cards.
Newtown-based players, family and friends, as part of TEAM F.A.S.T., will travel to Giants Stadium on Saturday to see the Red Bulls take on the New England Revolution.
Sport & Wellness Danbury, located at 17-27 Starr Road in Danbury, is currently accepting registrations to Summer Camp 2008 where TEAM F.A.S.T soccer, tennis and other weekly sports clinic programs will take place.
