Restricted Turn
A two-car accident occurred about 10:23 am April 4 on Church Hill Road.
Motorist Raymond Regan, 41, of Derby, who was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra, was attempting to make a turn out of a commercial driveway at 62 Church Hill Road, as motorist Suzanne Zuckerman, 40, of 3 Hull Road was driving a 2001 Honda Civic eastward on Church Hill Road, according to police said.
The two autos then collided. There were no injuries. Regan received a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Riverside Road
About 3:30 pm April 9, police were operating radar speed equipment on Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center and observed motorist Jody OâBrien 49, of Southbury traveling fast, so they stopped OâBrienâs vehicle on Riverside Road to investigate.
After investigating, police charged OâBrien with traveling too fast for conditions, improper display of a marker plate, driving with a suspended license, and driving without automotive insurance.
OâBrien posted $100 bail and is scheduled for an April 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court, according to police.
Five Charges
About 6:40 am April 7, police stopped motorist Nidia Felix, 23, of Derby for driving 42 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone on Queen Street, police said.
Police said they charged her with traveling too fast, driving with a suspended license, failure to return a suspended license, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police released Felix from custody on a written promise to appear in court April 24.
Hanover Road
Motorist Susan Otero, 42, of 201 Hanover Road was driving a 1995 Toyota Corolla northward on Hanover Road at about 11:50 am April 5, as motorist Joseph Williams, 70, of 80 Hanover Road, who was driving a 1987 Dodge Ram van, was pulling out of the driveway at 80 Hanover Road, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Williams for failure to grant the right of way.
Vandalism Arrest
Police served an arrest warrant on the afternoon of April 11 against a teenage boy at the boyâs home, charging him with second-degree criminal mischief in connection with a February vandalism incident.
After they processed the arrest, police released the boy on $250 bail for an April 25 appearance in Danbury Youthful Offender Court where he will be arraigned on the criminal charge.
State law shields the identity of the boy, who is either 16 or 17 years old, under the terms of the Youthful Offender statute.
Moving Violations
Police report that after they spotted an expired vehicle registration sticker posted on the rear of a vehicle being driven on Washington Avenue by Steve Petrella, 49, of 20 Housatonic Drive at about 9:20 pm April 11, they stopped the vehicle for an investigation.
Police said they charged Petrella with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and driving a without automotive insurance. He was released on a written promise to appear in court on April 29.
DUI Arrest
Police report that while on patrol duty at about 2:27 am April 12, they spotted motorist Adam Samuels, 25, of 128 Hanover Road driving southward on Queen Street. Police said that while traveling behind Samuelsâ vehicle, they saw him swerve across the roadâs center lines and then strike a crosswalk sign positioned in front of Newtown Middle School.
Police said they then stopped Samuels to investigate, after which they charged him with driving under the influence and with a travel lane violation.
Police later released Samuels on $500 bail for an April 29 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.
Volkswagen
Motorist Roger Sieber, 17, of 7 Pinnacle Drive was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Passat westward on Sugar Street about 9 pm April 10, when a deer ran out onto the street, colliding with the auto, police said. Sieber was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Castle Meadow Crash
Motorist Robert M. Gilchrest, Jr, 44, of 127 Huntingtown Road was driving a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo sport-utility vehicle southward on Castle Meadow Road about 3:24 pm April 12, police report.
After Gilchrest passed through the intersection of Castle Meadow Road and Maltbie Road, the Isuzu struck a concrete bridge abutment along Castle Meadow Roadâs northbound road shoulder, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Gilchrest to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters went to the accident, which remains under investigation, police said.

Nissan Vs Jeep
Motorist John R. Pribesh, Jr, 46, of 7 Strawberry Lane was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima westward on Wasserman Way and attempting to make a left turn onto Interstate 84âs Exit 11 on-ramp at about 2:14 pm April 13, as motorist Louis C. Bianco, 36 of 21 Paugussett Road was driving a 2004 Jeep Liberty eastward on Wasserman Way, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Pribesh for failure to grant the right of way.
I-84 Violations
State police report that they stopped motorist Genaro Nunez, 24, of Waterbury near Exit 11 on westbound Interstate 84 about 6 pm April 13, because the vehicle that he was driving had no registration sticker or front marker plate on it. Also, Nunez has a suspended driverâs license, state police said.
Also, state police took Nunez into custody because there was an outstanding arrest warrant for him on a pending charge of first-degree failure to appear in court.
State police held Nunez on $25,000 bail for an April 14 court appearance.
I-84 DUI
State police report they detected motorist Quinn Fontaine, 28, of 27 Engleside Terrace to be driving a 81 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone on eastbound Interstate 84 between Exits 9 and 10 at about 1:06 am April 9, so they stopped him to investigate.
State police charged Fontaine with driving under the influence, speeding, and failure to use a turn signal.
Fontaine was released on $500 bail for an April 28 court appearance.
Ford Vs Volvo
Motorist Nancy Ruhs, 35, of 14 Pepperidge Road, who was driving a 2006 Volvo XC-70 station wagon northward on South Main Street about 2:12 pm April 14, stopped and was waiting for oncoming traffic to pass so that she could make a left turn onto Elm Drive, when the Volvo was hit from behind by northbound driver Julio Landin, 35, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1994 Ford F-250 pickup truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Landin an infraction for failure to keep a reasonable distance apart.
Deer Hit
Motorist Soni Dharmendra, 40, of Brookfield was driving a 2002 Hyundai Accent sedan northward near 308 South Main Street about 7:30 pm April 11, when a deer entered the road, resulting in a collision, according to police. Dharmendra was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
DUI Arrest
Police report that while on patrol in Sandy Hook Center about 12:55 am April 16, they spotted motorist John T. Willmott, 40, of 56 Osborne Hill Road stopped at a traffic signal there which went through its red-green cycle several times before Willmott drove very slowly onto Washington Avenue.
Willmott then drifted while driving on the roadway and struck the right curb, police said.
Police stopped Willmott to investigate, after which they charged him with driving under the influence and with a travel lane violation.
Police held Willmott in custody on $5,000 bail for an arraignment later that day in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Charge
Police report that they saw motorist Brad Balbierer, 39, of Brookfield drive through two stop signs, after which they stopped him on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with Currituck Road, about 11 pm April 13.
After giving Balbierer field sobriety tests, police charged him with driving under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Balbierer was released on $100 bail for an April 29 court appearance.
Vandalism
Police are investigating a Briarwood Lane residentâs complaint that someone intentionally damaged some deer fencing on the personâs property. Police learned of the matter on April 14. The crime is third-degree criminal mischief. Officer Todd Dingee, who is investigating the incident, asks anyone with information on the identity of the person who damaged the fencing to contact him at the police station at 426-5841.
Ford Hits Chevy
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Berkshire Road about 2:18 pm April 15.
Motorist Kevin Krusewski, 20, of Seymour, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck eastward on Wasserman Way, stopped at a red traffic signal at that roadâs intersection with Berkshire Road, police said.
As Krusewski then started to make a right turn onto Berkshire Road, he saw a fire truck traveling southward on Berkshire Road, so he abruptly stopped the Chevrolet, police said.
Motorist Sharyl Rider, 30, of Ayden, N.C., who was driving a 2002 Ford sport-utility vehicle, then struck the Chevrolet from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Rider for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Pearl Street
About 6 pm April 10, motorist Joseph F. Cappiello, 17, of 13 Leopard Drive was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima sedan southward on Philo Curtis Road and then attempted to make a right turn onto Pearl Street, police said.
Cappiello, however, then encountered a vehicle in his travel lane, so he swerved to avoid a collision, but in doing so, the Nissan went off the road and landed in a ditch, damaging the autoâs front end, police said.
Cappiello was not injured. Police verbally warned him for making a restricted turn
Sexual Assault
On April 16, police arrested a boy under age 16 on a warrant on charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace stemming from an incident that occurred in February at Newtown High School.
Police said the boy made sexual comments and grabbed the buttocks of a female there, after which a complaint was filed and police investigated, resulting in the boyâs arrest on the criminal charges.
Following arrest processing, police released the boy from custody on a written promise to appear April 28 in Danbury Juvenile Court for arraignment on the charges.
State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.
