Newtown Rider Helps Postâs Equestrian Team Take First Place
The Post University Equestrian Team, despite being the smallest among the 11 in the region, including Brown University and the University of Connecticut, won the High Point Team ribbon at the Connecticut College Show, held at Mystic Valley Hunt Club in Gales Ferry, recently.Â
Newtownâs Rachael Warburton, who not only rides but also serves as the teamâs manager, placed third in open flat.
Warburton qualified for the regional competition at Mystic Valley Hunt Club and competed in intermediate flat and intermediate fences. She placed ninth in fences.
This year has been the most successful in Postâs history. The team also won Reserve High Point Team at the Wesleyan Show. In addition, several riders qualified for regional competition. The team is coached by Heather Johnson.
