Dorothy R. Swain, 76, of Milford, N.H., died Monday, April 14, in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, N.H. She leaves a daughter in Newtown.
Mrs Swain was born in Lowell, Mass., on July 12, 1931, a daughter of George and Beatrice (Perigny) Noval. She had resided in Milford for the past few years, formerly living in Londonderry, N.H., since 1965 and also Derry, N.H. She had been employed for 26 years as a registered nurse. She retired in 2002 from the Londonderry School System where she was employed as a paraprofessional for 17 years. She was an avid ballroom dancer and enjoyed reaching out to help others.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Cinquegrana and her husband Mark of Newtown and Laurie Nastasia and her husband Frank of Lowell, Mass.; two sons, Scott Swain and his wife Shelly of Strafford, N.H., and Robert Swain and his wife Natalia of Florida; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, George Noval of Dracut, Mass., and Richard Noval of Hampton, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Swain was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Alfred âAlâ L. Swain in 2006. She was also predeceased by her infant daughter, Patricia, and by her son, Kenneth Swain, who died in 1978.
Following cremation, the family will greet friends on Saturday, April 19, from 9 to 11 am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A memorial service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry.
