MERIDEN â Nominations for the Connecticut 2007-2008 Teacher of the Year award are being accepted through midnight on Wednesday, April 30. The award, which is being presented by Teachersâ Insurance Plan, includes $1,000 to the winning teacher and a $500 grant to that teacherâs school to use for school supplies, equipment, or enrichment programs. Presentation of awards for the 2007-08 school year will be in September.
Each state winner will also be eligible for the national award, which includes a special recognition and a $2,500 travel certificate.
Nomination forms are available online at teachers.com/toty.
In nominating a teacher, nominations must describe in 250 words or less why the teacher should be Teacher of the Year, including comments that relate to the nomineeâs ability to motivate students, special talents, experience, and any awards and recognitions.
Nominations can be done online or mailed to the Teachersâ Insurance Plan office in Meriden, but it must be postmarked by April 30.
