A Solution To The NHS

Parking Problem

To the Editor:

A simple solution without increasing expense to the town for the parking problem at Newtown High School is to emulate what apartment buildings and other businesses do with their parking. Faculty members are issued a permit of a certain color and students a different color to differentiate where they are allowed to park. Visitors will be given a limited amount of time from when they park to get a dated visitor pass and hang it off the rear view mirror.

A towing company is contracted to go through the parking lot at random times and any car not showing a parking sticker or parked in the wrong area will be towed at the violator’s expense. The information of the towed vehicles is given to the main office so when the parking violator goes to check on their car and find it missing, they will be able to find out that it was towed and not stolen. Students will start to think twice about parking without a pass at the high school.
