Warm Weather Means The Beginning

Of 2003 Town Players Season

Town Players will open their 2003 season with Neil Simon’s comedy Barefoot In The Park at The Little Theatre, Orchard Hill Road in Newtown, on Friday, May 2. Performances will be given May 2-24 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm. There will be one Sunday matinee performance at 2 pm on May 18.

This play is regarding a young newlywed couple in their very first brownstone apartment, and their reaction to their surroundings, neighbors and relatives. It is full of fun and sincerity and for those who are privileged to see it, pure delight.

Becky Rodia Schoenbeld of Stratford plays the lead role, that of Corie Bratter, and Suzanne Kinnear of Bethel plays her mother, Mrs Ethel Banks. Both of these actors will be remembered for their fine performances in previous Town Players productions, including Sylvia, An Ideal Husband and Pygmalion.

Louis Provenzano of Bridgeport is a newcomer to the Town Players stage; he will portray Corie’s husband, Paul Bratter (the role originally created by Robert Redford on Broadway).

The telephone repairman is being played by Steve Hoose of New Milford and Victor Velasco, the upstairs neighbor, is being played by Daniel J. Mulvihill, Jr of Danbury, who will also be remembered for previous fine Town Players performances in Rumors and Moon Over Buffalo.

Additional roles will be handled by Gene W. Comerford, Jr of New Milford and Paul Aiello of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.

The play is being produced by Suzanne and Larry Kinnear who with Adam Sussman are responsible for the fine set. It is being directed by Evelyne M. Thomas, and the lighting design is by Rob Pawlikowski.

The seating capacity of The Little Theatre is more limited than ever now that proper theater seats have been installed. Reservations are being suggested to avoid disappointment, as the shows get sold out quickly.

Tickets are $12 for evening performances and $10 for the matinee. For reservations call 270-9144.
