Reasons To Vote Yes

To the Editor:

On April 22, I will vote in favor of the proposed school budget. Here are my reasons for voting Yes, and I hope others will do the same.

*Newtown school funds are spent effectively, and the proposed budget simply maintains current programs in the face of unavoidable rising costs, such as fuel.

*The schools serve all of us, not only our students –– for park and recreation activities, continuing ed classes, plays, concerts, and more.

*Our young people are an important investment! Many already give back to our community by volunteering in our library, parks, hospital, homeless shelters, senior citizen and nursing homes. What we invest in our students now will determine the kind of citizens, and the kind of business, professional, and service people we’ll have in Newtown in the future.

These are just a few of the reasons I will vote Yes on April 22; I hope other will join me.
