Phillip Zencey Named Rotary Student Of The Month
Newtown High School teacher Steve George introduced Phillip Zencey, Newtown Rotaryâs Student of the Month, to the club. Academically he has done well and has achieved high honors every semester. He is in advanced math class with honors precalculus BC and has been recommended for Advanced Placement Physics, Spanish, and Calculus.
His athletic activities have included being on the track team last spring, being top runner on varsity cross-country in the fall, and selection as captain for the cross-country team next season. In addition, he has been a member of the marching band for three years, the winter percussion ensemble in 2000, and is now working towards his private pilotâs license.
An active member of the Boy Scouts of America, he is currently working on his Eagle Project of refurbishing the garden at the Senior Center. As a scout, he has worked on civic projects such as the holiday coffee stops and Depot Day, and was nominated and accepted to the national Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.
Phillip also tutors at Newtown Middle School, mows lawns for hire, and helps other scouts on their Eagle projects.
