Ashlar Honors Its Volunteers

In honor of National Volunteer Week, Ashlar of Newtown will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Reception on Monday, April 28, from 6 to 8 pm. The theme for this year’s reception will be “Volunteering is a Healthy Habit.”

Ashlar of Newtown volunteers will be treated to massages, paraffin hand therapy treatments, delicious food demonstrations and fun and fitness exercises.

During the evening, Ashlar of Newtown will also be presenting two junior volunteers with $1,000 scholarship awards. The Victoria and Alexander Bruno Scholarship will be awarded to Nathaniel Brewster and Ashlar of Newtown’s Junior Volunteer Scholarship will be awarded to Samuel Brewster. Both boys, twins from Redding, have made a significant impact in the life of one of the assisted living residents with one-to-one lessons on the computer. The resident now regularly communicates via email with all his family throughout the country. Both awards recognize the gifts of time and talent these Junior volunteers have provided to the resident.
