School Board Supports Budget
School Board Supports Budget
To the Editor:
The Newtown Board of Education, at its last business meeting, passed a unanimous resolution urging townwide support of the 2001-2002 municipal budget referendum. A âYesâ vote will ensure that school and town operational needs are met and that future municipal/recreational space issues are addressed. Of significant importance to the board is that this budget also includes debt service for the construction of a critically needed 5/6 school.
The dictionary defines a budget as an estimate of revenue and expenditures. A well-reasoned budget, however, should amount to more than the sum of its numbers; it should reflect the collaborative efforts of all of us who strive for a shared success.
Please join the Board of Education in voting âYesâ on Tuesday, April 24, at Newtown Middle School. Letâs continue to pursue success and plan for our future.
Sincerely,
Newtown Board of Education
