A lot of stray dogs pass through the Newtown Pound and find new homes â and new families â pretty quickly.
But for one dog, it hasnât been so easy.
Ray â a German Shepherd â has been living at the pound for several months and is still awaiting a new home. Ray is about six to eight years old, is handsome and intelligent, and combines the Labrador sociability with the Shepherd intelligence.
Ray is fully grown and maybe a wee bit overweight at 70 pounds. He is confident, alert, and responsive. He is affectionate and friendly, yet assertive enough to function without constant reassurance from his handler.
Ray can focus easily, is motivated by toys (especially tennis balls) and treats, and while he is past his puppy rowdiness, he would probably love to participate in obedience classes as a bonding exercise with his new owner.
He does very well with direction from his handler and could make a loyal, intelligent and devoted companion.
