Newtown High School Spanish 4 students participated in the school’s annual Argentina Day on Thursday, April 10.

For the day, students studied the history of Argentina in the school’s computer lab, illustrated stories they read about Argentina in the  library, ate Argentinean food in the Lecture Hall, and learned how to tango in the gymnasium.

Ballroom and Latin dance instructor Deb Linley, who works primarily out of Vitti’s Dance Studio in Danbury and also offers lessons through her website dancin4joy.com, showed students how to tango before she opened the floor up for the students to practice.

At the end of the day a dance contest was held, with the best dancers from each class selected to participate. By the end of the “dance-off” Zach Weiland and his dancing partner Erica Bloomberg were named in first place, and dance partner Kyle Watkins and Katelyn Zimmerman came in second.
