‘Skip’ Agen

US Navy Corpsman

Vernon G. “Skip” Agen, 75, husband of Elizabeth (McDonnell) Agen of Brookfield, died April 11 at Danbury Hospital after a long illness. Mr “A” was well known for the rosaries he made for the children receiving their first communion at St Joseph Church in Brookfield and St Rose Church in Newtown. He was the father-in-law of Beth Agen, the director of Newtown Youth & Family Services.

He was born in Springfield, Mass., March 20, 1934, a son of Lillian (Suss) and Vernon G. Agen II. He attended Springfield schools and was a graduate of American International College. He served in the US Navy as a corpsman from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War. He was employed in medical sales and medical advertising and retired in 1999 from American Chemical Society. A resident of Brookfield since 1974, Mr. Agen also acted in many local theatre productions.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, his children and their spouses, and grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Joseph Church, Brookfield, April 16. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery will be private.
