The Ineffectiveness Of Government
The Ineffectiveness Of Government
To the Editor:
Q: Whatâs the difference between 1) the massive disconnect between Washingtonâs 535+ elected officials and their constituents and 2) the proportionately greater disconnect between Newtownâs elected officials and their constituents? A: Nothing
In Washington, we vote people into office who refuse to enforce border controls, write tax law extorting income from half of us so the other half pays no tax, spend unprecedented money this bankrupt country does not have, fabricate legislative needs to insure the news media is âbalanced,â pass legislation without reading it and defend the murder of a million human lives annually based on nonexistent words from the US Constitution. These people are in office, with handsome remuneration, because we asked them to be.
America continues to be dismantled by our elected officials. What was once the only place on earth where individualsâ rights, property rights and the rule of law produced abundant opportunity to pursue any dream imaginable, has become weakened by the ongoing burden of depletion: we deplete our wealth by forcing those who produce it to give it to those who do not; we deplete our legal strength by toying with language and finessing the rigid interpretation of our laws; we deplete our population by willfully welcoming infanticide and euthanasia; and we deplete our culture by supporting and legislating the continual decay of the nuclear family.
US elected officials spend long hours serving the public very poorly. Their behavior and performance indicates they donât get it. They donât understand what is right and donât see the importance of making certain they support only what is right. They support what is wrong out of ignorance, or arrogance, or stupidity.
How different is Newtown? Presently, we are funding an unneeded, unwanted town hall. The money flowing into, through, around, over and under Fairfield Hills is so convoluted it would make Enron proud. The members of Fairfield Hills Authority canât possibly believe they are doing what is best for this town. They are either ignorant of what goes on or have been lulled into compliance.
We have Legislative Council members advising we should not employ advisory questions, fearing too complex a logic matrix in determining how to structure our budgets. What in the h-e-double hockey sticks is up with that?
We have citizens so gaslighted by town officials and/or The Bee as to believe Po Murray is the cause of all our problems because she has an âagendaâ and distributes emails. Po Murray has done for Newtown politics what the x-ray has done for medicine. If you believe otherwise, youâre ill informed.
Thankfully, however, we have fact-checking, truth-loving John Voket to clear the fog from town government. (A previous staff writer with Pravda, John will soon be named contributing editor of advocacy journalism.)
The ineffectiveness of government, federal, state and local appears to be at an all-time high. If the budget Newtown is proposing is not what you want, donât support it. Write the Legislative Council and tell them so. Maybe after another year of multiple, failed referenda, theyâll implement the transparency that is needed.
