Karate Black Belts Win Titles
Lauren DâAmico and Chris Perry won Grand Champion titles at Porcoâs Karate Academy at a recent tournament.
They participated in the World Tang Soo Do Regional tournament at Oxford High School, an annual event with more than 250 competitors from all New England states, April 4-5.
Participants competed in Sparring, Weapons and Open Hand form events. The students were grand champions for placing first in their respective Black Belt divisions (Adult Female and Male divisions for ages 17-34).
Both students have been training at Porcoâs Academy for more than 10 years.
DâAmico, a first-degree black belt, is a 2005 Newtown High School graduate and Perry, a third-degree black belt, is a 2001 NHS grad.
