WATERBURY – The snow may be gone, but now the ticks are here!

Will this be the year your horse gets Lyme disease? Or gets Lyme disease again? Teikyo Post University’s Equine Resources Committee will present Lyme Disease – An Update on Diagnosis on Friday, May 18th at 7:15 pm, during the next Quiz the Experts session at the Waterbury college.

The evening will feature the most current information on the diagnosis and treatment of this endemic disease. Dr. Allen Schoen will make a rare local appearance and will share his insightful knowledge about Lyme disease, and its link to our horses.

Dr Schoen is a world-renowned lecturer and author of four text books and two books for the general public, including his latest – Kindred Spirits. Utilizing a complementary approach, including acupuncture, Dr. Schoen will explain his Diagnostic Acupuncture Palpation Exam, which he has found very effective in diagnosing Lyme disease in horses.

To showcase the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease from a traditional approach, the evening will also feature Mark Baus, DVM from Fairfield Equine Associates, who will explain the very latest updates in determining if the horse has Lyme Disease or something else.

Learn more about what tests are now available, the antibiotics of choice, and the optimum length of treatment.

NOTE: Dr. Schoen will be available to sign copies of his new book, Kindred Spirits. Bring your own copy, or buy one at the Quiz the Experts evening on Friday, May 18th.

The program will take place in the Eagles Nest, Leever Student Center on the Waterbury campus (Exit 17 off I-84). Tickets are available in advance for the price of $5, or $10 at the door. To reserve seats, make checks payable to TPU-ERC and send to Carole Baker at Teikyo Post University, P.O. Box 2540, Waterbury, CT 06723-2540.
