Calling All Senior Citizens For Independent Living Day
Calling All Senior Citizens
For Independent Living Day
The saying âThose who are happiest are those who do the most for othersâ may be ascribed to Booker T. Washington; and Newtown Youth Services is doing their best to meet those standards.
NYS is gearing up for their second Annual Independent Living Day, Saturday, May 5. Many volunteers have already signed on and are ready to tackle various odd jobs for senior citizens who may need a little extra hand.
The purpose of Independent Living Day is to go to seniorsâ homes and assist with tasks that might make their lives a little easier. After this winter, a senior citizen may be interested in help with raking, washing windows, planting seasonal flowers, re-arranging cabinets, or changing storm windows over to screens. The possibilities are many.
Surveys for senior citizens requesting help are available at the Senior Center, Social Services, and local churches. NYS asks that they be filled out and returned as soon as possible so that teams may be set up for each location. Those interested may also call Newtown Youth Services for further information. That number is 270-4335.
