John J. Lipusz, Jr
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John J. Lipusz, Jr, 56, of Newtown, who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by family.
John was born on July 3, 1968, at Bridgeport Hospital, to Olive Sneed Lipusz and John Lipusz Sr. He was a devoted father, grandfather, son, and brother. John was the oldest of three children; his brothers were Eric and Peter Lipusz.
He attended Saint Rose School and graduated from Newtown High School. John went on to earn his associate degree at Oklahoma University, where he also played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners. He was a top-of-the-line salesman for Combined Insurance and sold many cars at Action Motors of Danbury. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
John was quite the athlete and enjoyed watching all sports but mostly football. His favorite team was the Steelers! John was also known as “Grampy,” had the biggest heart, and loved helping others and telling his funny stories that would make everyone laugh. He loved being a father and grandfather above all. There was nothing in this world that could make his face light up the way his grandchildren and daughter did. The bond he shared with them was unbreakable.
John was predeceased by his mother, Olive Sneed Lipusz.
He is survived by his father, John Lipusz Sr; his two brothers Eric & Peter Lipusz; his one and only daughter Olivia Lipusz and his two grandchildren, Benjamin and Ella. John also leaves behind his wife and best friend Leatha Lipusz, the mother of his only child.
A private service will be held for John “Grampy” Lipusz in memory of his life. Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, served John’s family.
