Holiday Closings: Good Friday And Easter Sunday

All town offices and agencies, including Newtown Senior Center, will be closed Friday, April 18, for Good Friday.

Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street, will be open normal operating hours (6 am to 8 pm) on Friday. The center will be closed for Easter Sunday, April 20.

The transfer station on Ethan Allen Road will be closed on Friday but will then be open for regular hours (7 am to 3 pm) on Saturday, April 19.

C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, will also be closed on Friday. It will be open its current regular Saturday hours (9:30 am to 5 pm) the following day, and will then close again for Easter Sunday, April 20.

Newtown’s public schools have been closed all week for spring break. Classes resume Monday, April 21.

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices continue to operate by appointment only. Visit portal.ct.gov/dmv for additional information.

The office of The Newtown Bee, at 5 Church Hill Road, will be open on Friday. The office is closed on weekends.

Good Friday is not a postal holiday, according to the United States Postal Service.

The Good Friday and Easter holidays will have an effect on the business hours of many entities later this week.
