With a dominating second half, Colorgraphix broke open a close game and defeated Denmoâs, 55-37, to capture The Gym At Newtown Womenâs Basketball League championship this week.
Colorgraphix led by just five at half, but outscored Denmoâs 28-15 in the second half to put the game away. âGraphix rolled along behind the trio of Karen Powell, Maura Keenan and Colleen Ruiz â who combined for 45 points.
Powell had 16 points, three rebounds, one block and one steal while Ruiz had 15 points and an excellent defensive game with a team-high six steals, eight rebounds and two assists. Meanwhile, Keenan dropped in 14 points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds with three steals and two assists.
Denise Passano had a nice game with eight points, three steals, two rebounds and a block. Michelle Smith chipped in with two points, one assist, and grabbed seven rebounds. Peg Bowers played strong defense with two steals and two rebounds.
Jody Rajcula led Denmoâs with a double-double ⦠15 points and 11 rebounds. Holly Ferguson added 10 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished off a assist and had a game-high seven steals. Collene Gregory and Vicki Davis each added four points and combined for six rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist. Stephanie Trolle and Laura Cook each chipped in two points and added two steals and four rebounds to the effort.
